Dame Dash Ashamed of ‘Big Pimpin” Video: ‘I’m Embarrassed By It’ [WATCH]
Dame Dash appeared on TMZ recently and revealed that he is ashamed by the way he treated women in the now classic video for JAY-Z’s song “Big Pimpin’.”
The visual, directed by the legendary Hype Williams, features Dame, Hov, Timbland (who produced the track) and UGK’s Bun B and Pimp C partying it up Trinidad and Tobago during Mardi Gras. In the clip, a shirtless Dame (aka “Champagne Dame”) is pouring champagne on beautiful women, among other things.
Looking back at the visual, Dame sees it as shameful and regrets his performance in the vid.
“When I was young and in hip-hop, I [knew] that with disrespecting women, you got a positive response from it. I look at the things like 'Big Pimpin' and I’m embarrassed by it," he recalls. "I wouldn’t want my daughter to go through that, and if I ever saw my son Boogie doing that we would have some serious issues. When I had daughters, I realized that I wouldn’t never do anything to a girl that I wouldn’t want done to my own daughter."
Elsewhere in the TMZ interview, Dame addressed Cam’ron's comment on the Dipset track, “Once Upon a Time,” that he allegedly slapped Harvey Weinstein for disrespecting women on the set of Paid in Full.
Dame wouldn't confirm nor deny that Weinstein was touched on the set of Paid in Full, but he did say that he wasn't happy with how the now disgraced studio executive was disrespecting his movie.
“I can definitely say someone got smacked on the set of Paid in Full,” he said. "But, you know, I never really liked the way Harvey treated my culture. I didn’t like the way he was talking to people and I didn’t like the way he was treating my film.”
"Somebody did get smacked on that set," Dame continued. "I got sued over it but I won. Harvey is someone who was trying not to put out my movie. And I had to really get aggressive with him and make sure he did right by it. Had I not fought for the movie, you would have never seen it."
