Common and Chance the Rapper Honored With Murals in Chicago [PHOTO]

Common and Chance the Rapper are being honored in Chicago with murals. Artist Chris Devin has painted them on the side of a three-story building located in the city's South Side area. 

Arguably, one of the biggest hip-hop honors is being immortalized in graffiti. These murals by Chris Devins are featured in Chatham, on the south side of Chicago.

The owner of the building, Eiran Feldman, has worked with Devin before. His goal is to bring artists back into the community for the “Positive Imaging Campaign” that kicked off last April. The decision to paint Chi-City natives Common and Chance the Rapper on the city’s walls was part of an effort by Feldman and the Chicago community.

“The appearance of the properties is more damaging than what’s going on in them, so people living on the block, people on a main street like 79th Street, they just see blight,” he told DNAinfo. “It discourages them from walking up and down the street and shopping.”

Locals agree that it “takes a special understanding of the neighborhood's history and the culture of its people."

Unlike the Kanye West mural that caused a stir on social media, Devin's artwork is truly admirable. Props to him and Feldman for picking two hometown heroes - Common and Chance - for their beautification project.
