Canadian Rapper DY Reported Missing in Mexico

Canadian rapper DY, born Forrest Schab, has been reported missing by his family, who last heard from him in more than three months.

The 26-year-old MC, whose rap name is an abbreviation of "Die Young," was recently signed to Canadian record label CP Records, and was preparing a followup to his popular club single 'Passenger,' when he made plans to fly to Mexico sometime in mid-August, and summarily disappeared without a trace.

"We haven't heard from Forrest since August," the family revealed in a recent statement. "We are extremely worried about him. If anyone has information of his whereabouts, please help us by contacting the Toronto police department." A glance at his Facebook page, which he had updated to state his location as "everywhere," shows that he was active on both Facebook and Twitter until Sept. 8, when he tweeted to wish Toronto radio personality Jeni McKenzie a happy birthday.

DY's labelmates Belly and Danny Fernandes, both of whom appeared in the video for 'Passenger,' tweeted about the search for his whereabouts. "Please #prayforDY.. Nobody has heard from him in months.. Please pray for his safe return," wrote R&B singer Fernandes. DY's management has launched a viral search-and-rescue operation asking fans to retweet information on the rapper and contact the Toronto police department for any information about DY's last whereabouts.

DY previously embarked on a Canadian tour with Akon in 2009. At the time of his disappearance he was working on a second single, 'That's My Spot,' featuring former Danity Kane member D. Woods. It is not yet known whether he had a history of mental illness, or why it took so long for his family to report him missing. In other news, Mexico is fighting a nasty drug war. Their drug cartel, known as Los Zetas, has claimed the lives of 9,000 people in 2010 alone, and recently made headlines when they shot and killed an American tourist.
