Yesterday, women everywhere were honored for International Women's Day, which saw tons of praise for the female gender around the globe. Not only did women take place in the #ADayWithoutAWoman strike across the country, but some female celebrities even signed an open letter from Global Citizen in order to make a difference on the special day.

The letter also came on behalf of the Queen Bey's Chime for Change feminist organization, which is also hosted by other celebrity names as well. Along with Bey, Madonna, John Legend, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Coldplay were some of the A-listers who signed off on the letter, which addressed the political climate of the country.

"Recent legislation and rhetoric have put decades of progress for girls and women at risk. All over the world, women are on the frontlines fighting for our future," the letter stated. "Yet millions of girls and women are still denied basic equal rights. And recent policies and appointments in the United States jeopardize its position as a global leader and positive role model on human rights. We stand together to say, in a voice louder than ever, that fighting for gender equality is the emergency and the opportunity of our time."
