Azealia Banks Slams Cardi B’s Success: ‘Black Industry Men Are Too Hype for This Latina Girl’
Azealia Banks went on a lengthy Twitter rant about the success of Cardi B and Cardi's hit single "Bodak Yellow." It was reported today (Sept. 25) that "Bodak Yellow" is the No. 1 song on the Billboard 200--the first No. 1 by a solo female rapper since Lauryn Hill's "Doo Wop (That Thing)" back in 1998.
But Banks wasn't feeling congratulatory in the wake of Cardi's milestone. Tweeting "anonymously" from the XoCheapy account she's been using of late, Banks made her disapproval known.
"I'm sorry. Black industry men are too hype for this Latina girl I've never seen them jump like this for remy or nicki," she tweeted. "Spinning this 'for the culture' story when they are simply letting white men at Atlantic buy them into hating their own women."
When someone pointed out that Cardi is black, Banks responded with, "She's only black when black want to include themselves in a success story."
"I wanted spicy Latina and she gave me poor mans nicki."
Banks has been getting people talking lately. Last week, the controversial rapper posted nude pics from a photoshoot. Banks posted the pic with a simple caption: “Make me over Kunts.”
She also hyped her Halloween Mermaid Ball and asked fans to use the nude photo to make their own flyers for the Ball. Banks shared pics from this same shoot last month.
