Although this story has been a mish-mosh of hearsay, it is factual that there have been countless rumors circulating the 'net about Asher Roth's sexuality. Several blogs recently reported that the self-proclaimed party rapper had admitted to being gay and had been subsequently dropped from SRC Records. Several reports even went as far as saying that Asher would appear on the E! News Christmas Special to finally come clean about his sexuality. But this past weekend, Loud Music Executive Vice President DJ Vlad finally addressed the issue on his blog, VladTV, in an effort to halt the rumor mill.

"As Executive Vice President of Loud.com / SRC Records, I would like to address the recent Internet rumors about Asher Roth," he wrote. "Asher Roth is not gay, and is not scheduled to be interviewed on the E! Channel. Furthermore, Asher has not been dropped from SRC Records, and is a top priority at the label after having sold over a million copies his 'I Love College' single. Asher is currently working on his next album for SRC."

Some of the controversy began when Asher supposedly "outed" himself as one of the rappers featured in the 2008 book 'Hiding in Hip-Hop: Confession of a Down Low Brother in the Entertainment Industry.' The book, written by former MTV producer Terrance Dean details the life of the author as a closeted homosexual, charting his relationships with other closeted men in the industry. The individuals in question included rappers, music producers and even film stars. Though Dean was careful not to mention any names in his memoir, Roth has become one of the main targets of the book. A Dec. 9 post on Dean's personal blog titled 'Asher Roth Admits He is The Gay Rapper From My Book,' didn't do much to put out the fire either.

Asher managed to bring more attention to the mounting rumors when he appeared alongside Lady Gaga and American Idol winner Clay Aiken at a Gay Right's parade, to show his support for the LGBT community. Besides Vlad's recent announcement, there has been no comment from Asher himself.
