A$AP Rocky Debuts Verse From ‘At.Long.Last.A$AP’ Album [VIDEO]
After more than two years since his debut album, Long.Live.A$AP., was released in January of 2013, A$AP Rocky is ready to come out of hibernation and get his name buzzing in hip-hop circles once again. In a new interview with GQ, the Harlem representative discusses the death of A$AP Yams, his forthcoming album and even spits a new verse from the project.
Apparently, Rocky wasn't resting on his laurels during his time off, but making forays into film with a role in Dope, the Sundance Festival approved indie flick. The rapper plays a character named Dom, a cocky hustler from the streets of Inglewood, Calif. Another new occurrence in his life is a change in residence following his decision to pack up and move out of his three-bedroom house in Hollywood. This may be nothing of note on the surface level, but serves as a subtle representation of Rocky's growth and maturity.
"I'm gonna miss it here," Rocky says before adding, "This was a place to f--- chicks, and I've outgrown it." He also sheds a little light on what he's been up to musically, namely his much anticipated sophomore album, At.Long.Last.A$AP, which fans can expect to showcase the evolution of Rocky's artistry and his renewed hunger.
"I'm claiming ownership of my legacy," Rocky explains to GQ. "Look at it: At.Long.Last.A$AP. A-L-L-A. Like slang for 'Allah.' It's the return of the god MC. I'm named after Rakim, and I'm finally facing what it means: I was born to do this s---. And I hope I get to do it for a very long time."
The A$AP Mob leader debuts a verse from his new LP while dressed in some slick wares. "I'm 26 but I been living in my youth lately / Pull my wisdom but I still spit it like my tooth ache me / Duck shots, motherf--- cops, what a blood clot / Alls I got is my word and my balls / And my one cock, pause," he rhymes.
The April issue of GQ featuring the "Multiply" creator hits newsstands nationwide March 31.
