Alicia Keys Shows Her ‘Blended Family’ in Video Featuring Swizz Beats and Mashonda [WATCH]
Alicia Keys is all about love and family. It's been a touchstone in her music and now she's offering touching visuals to build on that theme with her new video for "Blended Family (What You Do for Love)" featuring A$AP Rocky.
The video shows Keys with her own family, including producer husband Swizz Beats and their-- well, blended family, including sons Egypt and Genesis and stepsons Prince and Kasseem, and yes, Swizz Beats's ex-wife, Mashonda. Maybe now all of the chatter about Keys personal life and marriage to her husband can be shut down, seeing as how the principle players--- Beats, Keys and Mashonda--- seem to have worked it out.
There are also clips of other families showcasing their love for one another, in spite of sometimes rough circumstances.
"Hey I might not really be your mother, That don't mean that I don't really love ya/And even though I married your father,That's not the only reason I'm here for ya," she offers on the first verse, setting a tone for the song, which is all about inclusivity.
ASAP Rocky chimes in on the wonders of having a blended family as well.
"I remember having four step-moms at nine, Loved Christmas time and birthday was fly/Hit my sister's just for dinner cause the cookin' was bomb/Her mother's supper made me love her like she took me to prom," he raps.
The songs is from Keys' latest release, Here, which dropped last week. She calls the project, her sixth studio album, her most “raw and honest creation yet".
