Troy Ave has been indicted on attempted murder charges stemming from a May 25 shooting incident inside the green room at the Irving Plaza venue in New York.

Assistant District Attorney Christine Keenan announced the Grand Jury's decision to indict during a court hearing in Manhattan Criminal Court on Thursday (June 9). “I’m filing a certificate of affirmative grand jury action,” she stated (via New York Post). Troy Ave waived his right to appear in court.

As we previously reported, a video features Troy Ave, whose real name is Roland Collins, leaving the VIP area holding a gun in his hand and shooting it in the direction of fleeing clubgoers.

The Brooklyn rapper’s friend and bodyguard, Ronald McPhatter, was killed during the melee. Troy Ave, himself, was shot in the leg. Two other people, including Maino’s girlfriend Maggie Heckstall, were wounded as well.

Three guns, including the one that killed McPhatter, were found hidden inside a secret compartment in the vehicle that Collins was driving in to the hospital.

On Monday (June 6), Troy Ave released his new mixtape, Free Troy Ave, in which he proclaims his innocence in the case.

“Lock in a jail but I’m gonna get free...p---- n---- tried to assassinate me / I took the gun from him and turn the tables around like a G / R-I-P my real n—- B-A-N-G,” he raps in a freestyle.

“It ain’t the end of Troy Ave, not at all. It’s just the beginning, I’m innocence,” he adds.

Troy Ave is due back in court on July 7. The 30-year-old rapper is being held without bail.
