If Time magazine's just-announced list of "The 100 Most Influential People in the World" is any indication, R&B singers wield a lot of power here on this crazy planet. This year's inventory includes pop superstar Rihanna, dapper soul man Raphael Saadiq and ubiquitous British belter Adele.

"She's one of the coolest, hottest, most talented, most liked, most listened to, most followed, most impressive artists at work today, but she does it in her own stride," designer Stella McCartney said of Rihanna in her Time write-up.

Music legend Elton John weighed in on Saadiq, praising the former Tony! Toni! Tone! member for his performance at a recent AIDS benefit.

"Immaculately dressed (a Saadiq trademark) and moving like the soul stars of old, he confirmed that great black music is alive and well and not just a string of hip-hop monotony," John said.

Speaking on Adele's appeal, singer Pink recalled hearing the U.K. songstress for the first time and feeling moved by the power of her voice.

"I'm always so happy when the world catches on to something great," Pink said. "Especially when it's authentic talent, great songwriting and a unique package."
