The Weeknd had hearts all over the nation in the palm of his hand Sunday night (June 28) during his performance at the 2015 BET Awards in Los Angeles.

The singer brought his trembling falsetto to the Microsoft Theater and opened with his quiet hit "The Hills." His voice shook slowly with emotion as he commanded the stage colored by the crimson lights overhead.

Only a few moments later, the stage was lit from below, in a black and white pattern. Alicia Keys sat at a grand piano on stage left and sung the opening lyrics to the The Weeknd's ballad "Earned It."

She shook her braided crown as she played, singing, "You make it look like it’s magic / 'Cause I see nobody, nobody but you, you, you / I'm never confused..."

The crooner joined her by the hook, moving into the second verse while enunciating particular lines within. "You know our love would be tragic / So you don't pay it, don't pay it no mind..."

All the while the crowd swayed in their seats, satisfied by the potent melancholy of the Weeknd.
