While most rappers are getting involved in the Cognac business, veteran rhymer Tech N9ne is taking a different route and trying his hand in the brewing industry. The Kansas City native has partnered with the draft company Boulevard Brewing to create his own Bou Lou beer.

The product, inspired by his platinum-selling single “Caribou Lou,” is a wheat beer with coconut and pineapple flavoring. The beer will make its official debut on June 15 at the Boulevardia, an annual street festival in Kansas City, Mo.

"This is an alliance that had to happen,” said Boulevard Brewing president Jeff Krum in a press release (via HipHop DX). “Working with Tech and the Strange Music team has been a real privilege. Their creativity, attention to detail and commitment to excellence made it clear to all of us why they’ve achieved such remarkable and sustained success."

Strange Music CEO/President Travis O’Guin concurs and is excited to collaborate with the hometown brewery.

“Being from Kansas City, the Boulevard Brewing name has always been held in high regard," he said. "We both strive to create products that place us in the upper echelon of our respective industries, so to be able to collaborate with the Boulevard team on such a unique project is an honor.”

The Bou Lou beer will arrive in stores in the Midwest beginning on June 18, and if it product sells, a wider release could follow. The drink will be available in four-packs of 16-ounce cans at select locations in Kansas City, Mo., Wichita, KS, Lawrence, KS, Denver, and Springfield, Mass.
