T-Pain’s Father/Former Manager Suffers Heart Attack

T-Pain has run into some family struggles as his father has reportedly fallen into a coma. Pain and his father, Shaheed Najm, had a strained relationship in recent years but that didn't stop Florida's Auto-Tune king from rushing to his father's side.

According to the Tallahassee Democrat, Pain has been at his father's bedside since the 57-year-old suffered an apparent heart attack Saturday (April 24) evening in Atlanta. "He's concerned about his daddy." Pain's mother, Aliyah Najm, told the paper. "He's been right here."

Najm once worked as his son's manager but blamed his firing on T-Pain's labelhead, singer/producer Akon and his brother Bu. He once touched on his poor health in an interview. "Most folks don't know this, but I'm on a waiting list for a heart transplant," Najm said. "I've had a triple bypass and a stroke since dealing with the [former rap group] Nappy Headz ... I've let a lot of things go without commenting out of respect for my son. And I didn't sue to get my money because that's my child. I love him more than I love money." Pain later alleged that his father attempted to black mail him in a $250,000 payoff. Najm also denied those claims.

T-Pain has not released any statement regarding his father's hospitalization.
