With hip-hop hustling the headphone market these days, Swizz Beatz is taking things back to the old school and lacing up his own line of kicks. This week, the 'Everyday (Coolin')' rapper will be releasing 84 pairs of his red, limited edition Kamikaze sneakers for Reebok to only seven shoe stores across the nation.

Beatz, who moonlighted as a producer-in-residence at New York University this past school year, was recently named the Creative Director of the Reebok Classics brand. The collaboration between the rapper and athletic label -- "Redefining Classic is taking a risk," Beatz says of the venture -- was announced back in November. Two styles of the high-top were revealed -- a grey-white-blue combo and a black-white-grey -- but the limited edition red colorway will be the first shoe to hit stores, with the rest expected to launch in July 2011.

Each pair of limited edition Kamikaze kicks is numbered 1 through 84 and signed by the uber-hip-hop producer. Select stores in Houston, Chicago, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Manhattan and Brooklyn will stock the shoes on Friday (May 13). The going price for a pair is $100.

Beatz' new shoes have already had some air time. He plugged the sneakers in the music video 'Everyday (Coolin'),' the first single of his sophomore solo album, 'Haute Living.' The album features Eve, Snoop Dogg, Lenny Kravitz and Lil Wayne and is due out this summer.
