Suge Knight Suing Dr. Dre, Claims That Rap Mogul Hired Hitman to Kill Him
Although Suge Knight is currently fighting attempted murder and murder charges stemming from a 2015 hit-and-run incident, he has filed a lawsuit against Dr. Dre for allegedly hiring a hitman to take him out in 2014.
According to documents discovered by TMZ, Suge claims that he had a lifetime management deal with Dre, which entitled him to 30 percent of the rap mogul’s earnings. When veteran producer sold his Beats by Dre company to Apple, Knight alleges that Dre cut him out of the deal because the tech giant didn’t want to be associated with the former Death Row Records founder.
So to fix that, according to the lawsuit, Dre hired a hitman to kill Knight at 1 OAK during a pre-VMAs party in Los Angeles on Aug. 23. Knight was shot seven times including in the chest, forearm and abdomen. On a sidenote, Suge also sued R&B star Chris Brown, singer Pia Mia and the club owners for the incident as well.
Back in April, Knight’s attorney, Thaddeus Culpepper, claims that the Los Angeles County Sheriff was working at the club and allowed the alleged shooter inside to carry out the deed.
However, in the new motion, Knight claims the L.A. Sheriff's Dept. questioned a man named T-Money about the shooting, and he told investigators he was paid by Dre to kill Knight but no arrests was made.
Knight claims that since the shooting he's been living in fear, which led to him running down two men after he was attacked on the set of Straight Outta Compton in early 2015; killing one of the men.
Knight is suing Dre, Apple, Universal and other parties for unspecified damages, including 30 percent of Dre's monies from the Beats-Apple sale.
Attorneys for Dr. Dre had no comment on the matter.
