Starshell ‘Birthday Girl’ Video Teaser: Kanye Collaborator Plays With Cake

Singer-songwriter Starshell delivers a sneak peek of the photoshoot for her new single 'Birthday Girl.' The blonde bombshell, who assisted Kanye West in penning his '808s & Heartbreak' hit 'Love Lockdown,' will debut the forthcoming track on her debut album, 'Liberation,' set for release on Interscope Records later this year.

In the fun and flirtatious clip, she rocks shades, pretty-in-pink lipstick and frolics in the sand as her upbeat 'Birthday Girl' single serves as the soundtrack. "This photoshoot was super amazing because we shot in one of my favorite places in the world, the beautiful beach in sunny Malibu," Starshell tells The BoomBox. "Perfect representation of 'Liberation', my album title. The first single, 'Birthday Girl,' celebrates not only your birthday, but the celebration of life -- each and every day!"

The 23-year-old Lowell, Mass., native has joined forces with Mary J. Blige as the first signee on the veteran singer's Matriarch Entertainment record label. Starshell has written for the esteemed 'What's the 411?' creator, giving her the self-penned track 'Stronger,' which was featured on Mary's ninth LP, 'Stronger With Each Tear.'

Starshell also showcased her writing prowess on 'I Can See in Color,' a song featured in the Oscar-nominated film 'Precious.'
