Spike Lee and Sway Calloway to Host Prince Birthday Celebration in Brooklyn
Two months after Prince's untimely death, the late music icon is being remembered with an epic birthday party. Spike Lee and Sway Calloway are hosting a B-Day event in honor of the Purple One.
Prince's birthday is on June 7, and since the guitarist was a devout Jehovah's Witness, he didn't celebrate birthdays. Nevertheless, Spike and Sway is bringing the celebration to Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn and will be called “Prince Born Day: Purple People Party.”
“Come dressed in purple #PrincePartyBK,” announced Spike on his Instagram page. Music will be provided by DJ Kim Lightfoot and DJ Timmy Richardson, with Sway and Lee sharing hosting duties.
Lee, who was a good friend of Prince, also hosted a block party outside of his 40 Acres & a Mule Filmworks offices on April 22, the day after the music legend passed away unexpectedly at his Paisley Park compound.
Check out the flyers above and below and let's go crazy in honor of Prince's born day.
