While Beyonce was the center of attention on Sunday (Aug. 28) for news that she and husband Jay-Z are expecting a child, her sister Solange Knowles was making headlines elsewhere for her run-in with Miami police officers.

The 25-year-old singer planned to party at South Beach's Cameo nightclub, but instead of just having a good time with friends, she decided to bring an inflatable five-foot tall banana along for the ride.

According to TMZ, she was turned away at the door due to her fruity toy. Police officers on the scene claim Knowles said she wasn't let in due to racial reasons and became unruly with off-duty cops, who took her across the street from the venue to calm her down. However, Knowles reports that Miami police brandished a weapon during the confrontation.

"I have literally had my last leg with discriminating police! Miami police department will be notified," she wrote on Twitter. "A police officer just pulled a weapon on me.... I have done NOTHING illegal, against the law, or anything of the sort."

Apparently the weapon in question was a switchblade, which one of the officers wanted to use to pop the inflatable banana in the 'Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams' creator's possession. A rep for the Houston native released a statement describing the incident.

"One officer pulled out a switchblade and threatened to pop the balloon," the rep explained. "They felt it was inappropriate, but the turning point happened when he then took out the switchblade a second time with the blade open and said to them, 'I don't find the humor in this, anymore.' The blade was less than a couple feet away from Solange and her friends. The officer proceeded to 'forcefully' ask them to move, gesturing that they cross the street though there was oncoming traffic. Solange then asked the officer what was it that they did wrong, and he forcefully responded again to move. When a taxi pulled up, they got in and headed home. Solange made a series of calls to report the incident and was told to be prepared to be arrested when she came in to report the incident if her story was false. Solange simply wanted to report that the officer pulled out a weapon, when she had done nothing illegal, disruptive or belligerent. Solange is actively filing a report and has not yet decided on further legal action."

TMZ reports that Miami Beach Police Department Internal Affairs will be investigating the matter.
