Every so often the in-house design team at a sneaker company flexes so hard that it’s hard to believe there is no collaborator involved. The latest to pop up with a pair that falls into this head scratching phenomenon comes from Saucony.

The Saucony Grid 9000 gets a varsity jacket inspired sneaker that leaves it looking cooler than ever thanks to the conceptual execution. A black leather toe box meets a grey fleece midsole and heel and is finished off with a chenille S perched on the tongue. They are finished off with a gum bottom and an 1898 hit on the heel which puts the model in a bit more historical context.

If you’re looking for a really well put together silhouette the Saucony Grid 9000 ‘Letterman’ will be available at Saucony on March 3rd.
