The non-profit organization Steps N Stages does important work, helping to support female military veterans, and on last night's (Sept. 25) season premiere of ABC's 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,' a pair of powerful women pitched in to say thanks.

One was First Lady Michelle Obama, and the other was pop diva Rihanna, who surprised a group of Steps N Stages volunteers backstage at one of her shows.

"You guys are definitely very inspiring," RiRi told the starstruck ladies, who were helping to fix up the Jubilee House, a shelter started in Fayetteville, N.C., by Navy veteran Barbara Marshall. "What you guys do is amazing."

In addition to chatting with volunteers -- many of whom served in the armed forces -- the singer donated concert tickets for Steps N Stages to auction off and raise funds for the project.

An exemplar of strength and resiliency, Rihanna seems like a natural to support female soldiers. Plus, as she proved in her explosive 'Hard' video, she looks pretty foxy in fatigues.
