Rihanna Issues Statement to Fans on 21st Birthday
Rihanna has finally issued a statement to her fans 12 days after allegedly being assaulted by boyfriend Chris Brown. The pop diva's statement comes on her 21st birthday, and just 24 hours after an image of the battered star hit the 'net.
"At the request of the authorities, Rihanna is not commenting about the incident involving Chris Brown," says the statement from her rep. "She wants to assure her fans that she remains strong, is doing well, and deeply appreciates the outpouring of support she has received during this difficult time."
Rihanna nor her representatives had commented on the incident since Brown turned himself in for making criminal threats on Feb. 8, but the singer's grandmother and father have addressed the media. Rihanna's father Ronald Fenty recently criticized the LAPD, calling the leaked photo "sloppy work on their part."
The singer has been in seclusion in Barbados since the incident, but media reports claim Rihanna was spotted heading to an airport in Barbados the same night the disturbing photo surfaced on TMZ.com.
