As reported by AOL Music, after 20-year-old Sophie Simmons -- daughter of KISS rocker Gene Simmons -- auditioned for the upcoming second season of "The X Factor" in June, another descendent of music royalty has tried out for the hit singing competition show.

Judges Britney Spears, Demi Lovato, Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid were all left stunned when they found out that one of the "X Factor" hopefuls at the recent Greensboro, N.C., auditions was the grandson of the late legend, Ray Charles!

"This guy came on and told the judges a story about how his grandmother was in the movies," a source told The Hollywood Reporter. "And after they'd been talking for a few minutes, they finally realized that Ray Charles was his grandfather. The judges were massively surprised."

At the time of his death in 2004, Charles had 12 children from multiple women, and 21 grandchildren. The source did not have information on whether or not the R&B icon's grandson made it through the first round of auditions. We'll just have to wait and see when the season premieres, Sept. 13 on FOX!
