What do you get when you combine members of Public Enemy, Cypress Hill and Rage Against the Machine? A robust supergroup called Prophets of Rage.

The group -- which consists of RAtM’s Tom Morello, Tim Commerford and Brad Will, along with Public Enemy's Chuck D and Cypress Hill's B-Real -- have formed like Voltron to bring rock and roll hip-hop fury to the masses.

“Dangerous times do demand dangerous songs,” says Morello of the group's formation during an KROQ interview. “This historical moment is really unprecedented. Both the country and the world are on the brink of the abyss. And, we thought it was wholly irresponsible of us to be sitting on the sidelines when we have a catalog of material like we do between the three of us to go out and fight the power, to take the power back, to bring the noise [and] to rise up."

The group are currently performing in Los Angeles as a way to introduce themselves and their message to fans. So far, people have been overwhelmingly receptive to the band's rage of empowerment.

Now Prophets of Rage are plotting to bring their message to the one place where it needs to be heard -- at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland.

"Well there's a thing called the Republican National Convention in July, and that will be a perfect place for a band like Prophets of Rage to cause a ruckus, and we will be there on the streets, in the field," Morello told Rolling Stone. "We have a venue and there may be venues that will be spontaneous venues, it's hard to say. This is the kind of thing you don't broadcast to the local authorities prior to arrival."

Morello also warned that Prophets of Rage might invade the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia as well.

Overall, Prophets of Rage is a supergroup who wants to incite radical change in the status quo. Now that we are currently in an Election season, it's important that varying voices get heard.

"The songs that we've been writing about for decades attack the system, not the individual candidates," say Morello. "How people change the world, it starts around people's kitchen tables, it starts in their classrooms, it starts wherever people talk about making a world we want to one day see."

"We've come back to remind everyone what raging against the machine really means," he adds.
