Producer Danja Introduces Luke James at VH1 Benefit
Producer Nate "Danja" Hills joined forces with Give Back Hollywood and the VH1 Save the Music Foundation to introduce his new artist, Luke James during a private event held at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif. Friday (Aug. 26).
Hosted by reality stars Vanessa Simmons and Tamar Braxton, the benefit featured a performance by James, as well an appearance from VH1 Save the Music Foundation grant recipients. "It's for kids, it's for music, it's for art," Simmons said of the VH1 Save the Music Foundation, which is dedicated to restoring music education programs in schools by providing students with musical instruments.
"It's always good to give back," Danja tells The Boombox of his decision to participate in the event. "A big part of my career is giving back. Somebody extended the help to me and I would love to do the same."
Having worked with some of the biggest names in music, Danja has an eye for talent, revealing that James, who scored an Island Def Jam/Universal recording contract by way of the producer's New Age Rock Stars imprint, offers a fresh outlook on R&B. "[His music is] very honest and soulful, love songs," Danja shares. "He has a big voice. It's not so much about the production or anything like that. His lyrics and his melody, and his soul [are] what it's all about with him."
Aside from James' performance, celebrities like Kelly Rowland, Far East Movement, Christina Milian and Cali Swag District enjoyed food and beverages and met with vendors publicizing their gadgets, jewelry and clothing.
