Prince’s Memoir to be Released in Late 2018
Prior to his untimely death in April 2016 of an accidental overdose on fentanyl, Prince had completed 50 pages of his memoir.
Now, the autobiographical manuscript will be published at the end of the year, reports Variety. Publishing agent Esther Newberg said Prince collaborated with author Dan Piepenbring on the work, and the deal was struck just weeks before Prince died at 57.
“Editors don’t like to be in the same room making their pitches to the same potential clients. We had to do it because I knew he would not want to meet individually with editors," Newberg said of the deal.
The book might also include reproductions of Prince’s longhand pages. The book has been dubbed "an unconventional and poetic journey through his life and creative work."
In other Prince news, the icon's estate and the Minnesota Twins struck a merchandising deal back in February. The deal will feature Twins and Prince logo merchandise that will be sold year round, including baseball caps marked with Prince's signature symbol, shirts and Prince branded baseballs. The team will also honor the music legend with its second annual "Prince Night" which take place on June 8, the day after his born day.
Prince's memoir is set to be released in time for the holiday season this year.
