After decades in the music industry, it's impressive to see an icon like Prince rocking out "Jimmy Kimmel Live" like he's back in Purple Rain. Debuting his new single "Rock & Roll Love Affair" on the late night show Tuesday night (Oct. 23), Prince appeared in a gold fringe jacket and yellow bellbottoms, kicking out his signature grooving funk, backed by a full band and plenty of brass boogie.

Choice lyrics from the jazzy song include the lines "She believed in fairy-tales and princes/ He believed in jazz, women, booze and this thing called soul," which might actually both be beliefs straight from the religion of Prince himself.

Since no mere television studio can contain the glory of Prince, he performed the new song on an outdoor stage, to a fairly large and vocal crowd.

Introducing the song with a melody of his hits, his Royal Badness followed up "Rock & Roll Love Affair" with a rendition of "The Dance Electric." Watch the performance below.
