As the world continues the mourn the untimely death of Prince, the body of the creative icon has been received by the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office in Ramsey, Minn., for an autopsy to be conducted.

According to ETOnline, the singer-guitarist was discovered unresponsive in an elevator at his Paisley Park estate on Thursday (April 21). Authorities received a call at 9:43AM of an adult man unconscious in the the elevator. When first responders arrived at the scene they quickly administered CPR but were unable to revive him. Prince was pronounced dead at 10:07AM.

Meanwhile, TMZ is reporting that the 57-year-old musician was treated for a drug overdose six days prior to his shocking death.

If you recall, Prince’s was rushed to a hospital last Friday (April 15) after his plane made an emergency landing in Moline, Ill. Reps say that he was suffering from the flu and needed medical attention.

However, multiple sources have told TMZ that when Prince was admitted to the hospital, doctors gave him a “save shot,” which is typically given to help fight the effects of an opiate.

Insiders say that doctors advised the Purple One to stay in the hospital for 24 hours but when he was denied a request for a private room the singer and his entourage left for Minnesota.

Police are still investigating Prince’s death and are requesting to see the medical records from the Illinois hospital.

Reps for Prince had no comment on the matter.
