Prince made a royal announcement last night (April 7) on 'Lopez Tonight.' The Purple One phoned his "Puerto Rican brother from another mother" during the show to announce a 21-night string of tour dates hitting Los Angeles' the Forum beginning on April 14. The night before he begins his residency, Prince will also grace Lopez's show to warm up for the gigs.

"I will be starting a 21-night stand next Thursday, the 14, at the L.A. Forum with the New Power Generation and a whole gang of special guests," revealed the 52-year-old singer. "We need some place to rehearse though, can we come over there next Wednesday?"

The iconic performer has mostly remained out of the spotlight since embarking on his Welcome 2 America tour late last year. He kicked off the jaunt with two shows at New Jersey's Izod Center last December, later setting his sights on New York City with four dates at Madison Square Garden. He later brought the tour to Oakland, Greensboro and Charlotte before capping the trek at South Carolina's North Charleston Coliseum on March 30.

Prince has been on a touring hot streak over the past few years in spite of the fact that he hasn't produced a hit record in more than a decade. His most recent release was last year's '20Ten,' which was released exclusively to European newspapers in July 2010.
