The 2015 BET Honors celebrate the lifetime achievements of a variety of African Americans in various industries. On Monday night (Feb. 23), R&B singer Ne-Yo attended the ceremony and graced the stage for the first live performance of the night, performing his standout cut, "Religious," from his latest release, Non-Fiction.

Donning a black and white tux and black fedora, Ne-Yo performed in front of a montage of mountains while backed by a live band featuring drummers, trumpet players, guitarists, tambourines and other musicians.

As the background singers provided additional vocals, the crooner worked the stage during the second verse of the song with finesse, hitting his full stride by the time the hook rolled in. "Hallelujah, hallelujah, baby / You've got me religious," Ne-Yo passionately crooned. The spotlight shined down like rays coming from heaven while entertainers like Keisha Knight Pulliam and others grooved in their seats.

The singer received an enthusiastic ovation, setting the tone for the remainder of the night.
