ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) is celebrating its 100-year anniversary on Feb. 13, 2014. To help commemorate the moment, 15 songwriters and artists are teaming up to perform 'More Than the Stars,' the campaign's theme song.

Ne-Yo, Aloe Blacc and names like the legendary Bill Withers ('Ain't No Sunshine') and members of Lady Antebellum were subjects of ASCAP's 'Why We Create Music,' a documentary that explores their craft and examines the power of music. The song was an unexpected result of the film.

But the result was clearly a great one from the looks of this recording. Although a lot of the collaborators come from vastly different genres, they all are in great harmony as they perform for the love of music.

Ne-Yo found himself inspired by the event. "It really, really is special for me to be a part of something that speaks so heavily to just the art of songwriting: The magic of what songwriting is, what it does for people," he says.

The songwriter also describes 'More Than the Stars' as "a kind of 'We Are the World' for songwriters." It makes sense, as it at least feels just as epic in scope.
