Nicki Minaj caused some drama at this year's Hot 97 Summer Jam, but it's nothing compared to what would have happened had Nas been allowed to perform in 2002. At the time, he was embroiled in a major beef with Jay-Z, and as a disturbing new video reveals, he was planning to hang an animatronic Hova puppet during his set.

The footage of the planned Jay-Z hanging (below) shows the extent to which these two NYC rap titans didn't get along. The Jigga likeness Nas commissioned was eerily lifelike, and beneath the rubber exterior, a series of pistons and other contraptions insured the dummy would writhe and squirm while hanging from the 19-foot gallows.

Luckily, Summer Jam organizers caught wind of Nas' plot and prohibited him from using the prop. That led the Queensbridge MC to pull out of the show altogether -- a move Minaj repeated this year, after a DJ dissed her track "Starships" during a pre-show concert.

Let's hope this doesn't give Nicki any ideas.
