Nas ‘Daughters': No I.D. Produces Track, Rapper Addresses Destiny’s Condom Photo
Nas delivers "Daughters," a new single off his 10th studio album Life Is Good, due July 17. The Queensbridge-raised MC snagged Chicago representative No I.D. to produce the track.
The rapper, who is a father to his own daughter Destiny Jones, serves some heartfelt storytelling on the effort.
"For my brothers with daughters I call this," Nas raps. "I saw my daughter send a letter to a boy her age/ Who locked up, first I regretted it then caught my rage/ Like how could I not protect her from this awful fate... She heard stories of her daddy thuggin'/ So if her husband is a gangsta/ Can't be mad I love her."
The 38-year-old rhymer also addresses Destiny's frowned-upon actions regarding Twitter. In February, she posted a photo on the social networking site showcasing a box of condoms that sent the Internet into a frenzy.
"This morning I got a call nearly split my wig/ The social network said 'Nas go and get your kid/ She's on Twitter,'" Nas spits. "I know she ain't gonna post no pics/ Of herself underdressed, no inappropriate shit, right/ Her mother cried when she answered/ Said she don't know what got inside this child's mind/ She planted a box of condoms on her dresser then she Instagram-ed it/ At this point I realized I ain't the strictest parent."
