Nas, the rapper who helped put Queens, N.Y., on the map and served the masses with nine studio albums -- from Illmatic to his Untitled LP -- was the star of VH1's "Behind the Music" Wednesday night (April 18). The 38-year-old "The World Is Yours" creator, who tends to keep his private life away from the media, opened the door to his world, one that's been filled with triumphs and tribulations since he first came on the scene over 18 years ago.

In the clip, Nas, born Nasir Jones, brings viewers into his upbringing living in the projects and his move to the top of the charts with platinum albums. He revisits his past beef with Jay-Z, which spawned his lauded diss track "Ether," and speaks on his divorce from singer Kelis, a subject he's been very careful to stray from addressing.
