N.E.R.D. have been pummeling through the competition the last few years, thanks in part to the ingenuity of frontman Pharrell Williams. The musician-turned-fashion guru and art aficionado, along with group members Chad Hugo and Shay Haley, took to South Florida on Thursday (Dec. 2) to perform at 'Paper Magazine' and AOL's joint event during Art Basel, in support of the Miami artist collective FriendsWithYou.

Known for their goofy, animated characters that scream happy-go-lucky sunshine, FriendsWithYou seems to be the perfect fit for N.E.R.D., who've already worked with them in videos like 'Hot-N-Fun,' showcasing what happens when music and art collide.

"We get a chance to be a part of the art because we are performing our art in the middle of Basel," Pharrell tells The BoomBox.

The super producer and company chat about big plans in the works, which include collaborating with the likes of Wiz Khalifa and Jay-Z, among others, "in a very different format that you don't expect to happen," to creating their own art along with some new collaborators, which they simply identified as, "Something having to do with toilets. And you know what goes in the toilet, don't you?"
