Lupe Fiasco Stars in Martial Arts Docu-Series ‘Beat n Path’ [VIDEO]
Ever since Lupe Fiasco showed off his samurai sword skills last year, fans have been interested in his martial arts training. The Chicago rapper recently filmed a docu-series called Beat n Path, which features him exploring his passion for the martial arts in China.
In an interview for the series, the Grammy-winning rhymer said his passion for the martial arts started in his childhood with his father teaching him kung fu.
"I trained in the martial arts with my father since I was about 3 years old and it's always been a passion of mine," he explains. "It pops up in my music sometimes [with] little hints of it here and there, but for the most part, my fans never really saw that side or really saw my martial arts side. They only know me for being a musician and a rapper. Hopefully this show will introduce people to that side of me."
On Beat n Path, we see Fiasco travel to China where he learns some of the most strenuous fighting techniques from kung fu masters. In addition, the "Battle Scars" rapper recorded a song reflecting on his experiences in China with fellow Chinese rappers.
In the end, the series is Lupe Fiasco's cultural and spiritual journey from the Far East.
Beat n Path is currently airing on Celestial Tiger Entertainment's Kix channel in China. There's no word on when the series will premiere here in the U.S.
