Whether it's war, sexism or the music industry, Lupe Fiasco has always prided himself on making music that stands for something. Although he may no longer be the conscious rap darling, the Chicago rapper delivers a powerful message that should hit close to home for a lot of people on his latest track.

The first official single from his upcoming 'Tetsuo & Youth' LP, 'Mission' is "a track to empower those facing cancer, revere cancer survivors and remember those who have passed to due to cancer related illnesses," according to the song description.

'Mission' opens with several narratives from cancer survivors, including Charlie Wilson and The Roots affiliate Greg Porn, before Lupe enters the frame and launches a lyrical attack on the frantic production. "Breast cancer can't hold me back / That's the answer when they told me that," he raps from the perspective of a female cancer patient.

In addition to the release of this new single, Lupe Fiasco has become a celebrity ambassador for Stand Up to Cancer (SU2C), a grassroots movement which aims to accelerate the pace of cancer research through funding. Lupe and SU2C are planning various collaborations to accompany 'Mission' that will be announced later this year.
