Lil Jon Threatens to Sue Upscale Retail Store Over Use of His Lyrics

A fancy Hamptons store is selling a flask featuring Lil Jon's uber-popular lyric "Turn Down for What" and the rapper isn't having it.

According to New York Post's Page Six, Lil Jon's legal team sent a cease-and-desist letter to Blue & Cream, an upscale retail clothing store in East Hampton, N.Y., warning them to stop selling the flasks unless they make a licensing agreement with him for 40 percent of future profits.

Blue & Cream's owner, Jeffrey Goldstein downplayed the company's usage of the lyrics.

“The flask was inspired by the song’s party theme," he said. "This is likely a case of a third party trying to bully us, but the right thing to do is to stop selling the flask. It was all in good fun; it wasn’t meant to cause an international incident.”

Not sure how a third party is trying to "bully" the company -- the right thing to do is pay person who came up with the phrase the company is profiting from, we are just saying.

Nevertheless, Blue & Cream can afford it. The retail chain caters to an A-list clientele that includes Gwyneth Paltrow, Chanel Iman and Christie Brinkley.

So turn down for what? Lil Jon's 40 percent cut, that's what.
