Lauryn Hill, The Roots’ 4th of July Jam: Rapper Performs Surprise Set — Video
Lauryn Hill surprised people in the audience at The Roots' 4th of July Jam in Philadelphia Wednesday (July 4) when she performed an unexpected set.
The former Fugees member, decked out in a white dress and python-printed heels, worked up a visible sweat for the crowd and returned to form during her show.
Despite recently pleading guilty to tax evasion, Hill was in good spirits. She performed "Ex- Factor and "Doo Wop (That Thing)," two songs featured on her debut solo album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.
Last week, the eight-time Grammy-winning singer pleaded guilty in New Jersey to not paying her taxes. Hill was charged with three counts of failing to file tax returns on $1.5 million of income. She faces a maximum one year jail sentence on each count.
