Lauryn Hill Performs Classic Queen Latifah Hits at Revolt Music Conference [WATCH]
Queen Latifah was honored at Diddy's Revolt Music Conference this weekend in Miami. SZA and Daniel Caesar helped pay tribute to Latifah for all that she's done in hip-hop and in entertainment overall. But the night's most memorable moment came when Latifah got a salute from a fellow legend and New Jersey native.
Lauryn Hill took the stage and rocked some classic Latifah tracks; she ripped "Ladies First (performing Latifah and Monie's verses), "U.N.I.T.Y." and Latifah's first single "Wrath of My Madness."
Latifah is both a legendary figure in hip-hop and a power player in the entertainment industry overall for her work as an actress/producer/executive. She received the Icon Award for her accomplishments in music, film and TV. Latifah has won an Emmy, Golden Globe and a Grammy Award.
"I'm emotional tonight," Andre Harrell said, fighting back tears. "I don't do this but I'm so proud of you."
"Behind the scenes or in front, Dana the Queen gives 100 percent and never lets you forget that she's just a girl from Newark."
The Latifah tribute was part of the three-day Revolt Music Conference which was held at the Eden Roc Miami Beach Resort from October 13 to October 15. Latifah was celebrated by colleagues and friends Jada Pinkett-Smith, Monica, Q-Tip, MC Lyte, Fab 5 Freddy and director Lee Daniels.
Said Diddy: "Queen Latifah is Revolt. She spoke her mind in music and wasn't afraid to stand up for justice. She's fearless."
