Lauryn Hill was skewered for days on social media following the fiasco that was her Atlanta concert at Chastain Park; when the acclaimed artist's fans were left waiting for more than two hours only for Ms. Hill to arrive and give a brief performance before the venue was shut down for curfew. She posted a lengthy statement on Facebook addressing the issue and claiming that her true fans understand that she does not disregard them.

Over the years, her shows have become notorious for tardiness and lackluster performances; but she attributes her reputation to her commitment to the creative process.

"I don't show up late to shows because I don't care," Hill wrote. "And I have nothing but Love and respect for my fans. The challenge is aligning my energy with the time, taking something that isn't easily classified or contained, and trying to make it available for others. I don't have an on/off switch. I am at my best when I am open, rested, sensitive and liberated to express myself as truthfully as possible."

It's hard to tell whether or not Hill's reputation can be salvaged with a simple Facebook post. She's forged this image over several years and the public appears to be growing more and more frustrated and less willing to accept it from an artist whose most acclaimed work is becoming further and further removed from current tastes.

She also went on to assure fans that she would make up for what happened in Atlanta. Check out the full statement from Ms. Lauryn Hill's official Facebook page.
