Kanye West Returns to Twitter, Plans on Writing a Philosophy Book
Kanye West resurrected his Twitter account on Friday (April 13), which has remained dormant since May 2017. The Chicago rapper only made one tweet and then deleted it.
The good folks at Sneaker News was able to screenshot the tweet, which was Yeezy taking a jab at Nike for copying his popular chunky sneaker Yeezy Boost 700. Apparently, Nike is releasing a sneaker called the Air Monarch, which is look like the quintessential dad shoe. However, it does resemble West’s popular kicks for Adidas.
Although West deleted his shady post, he did retweet a fan’s tweet who welcomed him back to Twitter.
Meanwhile, West is planning to write a book on philosophy called Break the Simulation.
In a Hollywood Reporter interview with international interior design legend Axel Vervoordt, the Chicago rhymer describes the book as a concept where he wants people to focus on the past as well as the future.
"I've got this philosophy — or let's say it's just a concept because sometimes philosophy sounds too heavy-handed," he explains. "I've got a concept about photographs, and I'm on the fence about photographs — about human beings being obsessed with photographs — because it takes you out of the now and transports you into the past or transports you into the future."
"It can be used to document, but a lot of times it overtakes [people]. People dwell too much in the memories," he continues. "People always wanna hear the history of something, which is important, but I think it there's too much of an importance put on history."
When talking about his successful run at Adidas he offered this tidbit:
"At Adidas, I have Yeezy, but it's a namesake brand. It's my nickname. We do these sneakers that sell out and we get, 'Oh, this is the number one brand on Women's Wear Daily. And I don't wish to be number one anymore, I wish to be water. I wish to be closer to UNICEF or something where I can take the information that I have and help as many people as possible, not to just shove it into a brand."
