Kanye West Launching Donda Social to Help Poor Residents in Chicago
Kanye— who claims Barak Obama did nothing to help Chicago in his eight years in office— is enlisting the help of some of his celebrity friends. Together, they will reportedly focus on Chicago neighborhoods "facing severe problems with housing, education, gun violence and drinking water."
TMZ spoke with Kanye's longtime associate Malif Yusef who laid out the initial scope of the project. Among those who are reportedly helping in his initiative include Common, Vic Mensa, Don C and Chance The Rapper, the latter of whom recently apologized for his "badly timed" tweets defending his longtime mentor.
As for Donda Social, the plan is reportedly to head to the impoverished, struggling communities and convene with the residents to come up with viable solutions and also raise money. The celebrities involved will also use their platforms to push for change in the city's political agenda, according to Yusef. The organization is name for his late mother, Donda West.
