Jill Scott’s ‘The Light of the Sun’ Gets New Release Date
Jill Scott fans are in for a treat as the soul sister's forthcoming LP will debut a week earlier than expected. 'The Light of the Sun,' her fifth album, will make its mark on June 21.
In support of her new project, the Grammy Award-winning songstress will be taking her smooth vocals to the stage, hitting the late night circuit with 'The Tonight Show With Jay Leno' on June 17. She'll then move to the outdoor space for the live stage show put forth by 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' on June 23 and then perform on 'Live! With Regis & Kelly' on June 30.
'So in Love,' the latest single off 'The Light of the Sun,' has moved Scott back onto the charts. The record, which features crooner Anthony Hamilton, has had the quickest rise to Top 5 Urban Radio this year, pulling in a No. 3 spot. The song has also claimed the No. 1 greatest gainer position for the fourth straight week -- the achievement is the biggest debut in Scott's career.
In the video for 'So in Love,' Anthony serves as Scott's man, scooping her up for a much needed day of relaxation in each other's company. "I'm glad this week is over/ I need to get away/ Go home and throw my clothes on/ Come get you right away," he sings over the mellow groove. "I see you 'cross the room/ Talking to some men/ I love your mannerisms, babe/ The way you handle them/ Oh, I'm so proud to be with you/ So attracted to you too," she belts out. The two attend a wedding and boogie to the beat, proving that a couple can surely play together and stay together.
'The Light of the Sun,' executive produced by Jill Scott and J.R Hutson, will feature guest appearances by Paul Wall, the aforementioned Hamilton, Doug E. Fresh and Eve, and showcase production by Dre & Vidal and Warryn Campbell.
