Fresh off the success of her most recent album 'The Light of the Sun,' Jill Scott hit the Essence Music Festival Saturday (June 2) to thank her fans for their support.

The singer's fourth and most recent release gave her her first chart-topping release, selling 135,000 units in its first week. "It's pretty incredible," she said. "Thank you for making 'The Light of the Sun,' number 1 in the country. You did that!"

Dressed in a formfitting silver sequin dress and black leggings, the newly slimmed down soul songstress performed several tracks off her latest album including 'All Cried Out,' 'Blessed' and 'So in Love,' for which she brought out Anthony Hamilton.

Performing to a nearly packed house, the Philadelphia native threw in a few dance moves, clearly elated to be back on stage after a two-year hiatus. "That was fun," she said. "It's been a year since I've been on the stage, it's nice to know everything still works."

Scott's set also included 'Gimme,' 'Slowly Surely' and 'Golden.'

The Essence Music Festival Essence came to a close on July 3. To learn more about the concert series visit www.essence.com.
