It was recently reported by the New York Times that Jay-Z is expected to announce that he will perform a special benefit show at Madison Square Garden on Sept. 11 for the New York Police and Fire Widows' and Children's Benefit Fund.

The concert, which will take place on the eight-year anniversary of the tragic day, will coincide with the release of Jay's 'Blueprint 3' album. The show will be broadcast by Fuse, the cable music channel. Ticket information has not been announced.

In related news, the rapper has been tapped to take the stage at this year's MTV Video Music awards on Sept. 13. In true jet-setter fashion, the rapper will head to Los Angeles the following day (Sept. 14) for the premiere episode of "The Jay Leno Show." Hov is set to perform his new single 'Run This Town,' featuring Rihanna and Kanye West, and to make the evening one to remember, Yeezy and the R&B/pop diva will join Hov onstage.
