Following the Super Bowl halftime performance by Justin Timberlake, fans went on Twitter to express their love for Janet Jackson, whose career took a hit after the "Nipplegate" fiasco during her halftime performance years prior.

Fans said Justin's acceptance and career incline after the incident was a clear cut example of white privilege at work, and when he was announced as the performer at halftime, wasted no time pointing that out. On Super Bowl Sunday, #JanetJacksonAppreciationDay began trending, with fans displaying their love for the pop icon.

Subsequently, Janet's Spotify streams also spiked following Justin's perfromance.

On Valentine's Day, Janet reached back out to her faithful listeners, thanking them for the love they've shown her over her decades-long career.

"You have no idea how much I love you. I want to thank you for the support and the love that you're always showing me," she said in an IG video, which she captioned with #JanetJacksonFanAppreciationDay. "I appreciate you, I really do."

Up next, Janet will be headlining at the Essence Music Festival this July, alongside Mary J. Blige and Erykah Badu.
