Ja RuleFormer Murder Inc. rapper Ja Rule will be playing the lead in a faith-based urban film entitled 'I'm in Love with a Church Girl.'

The film also stars former 3LW/Cheetah Girls member Adrienne Bailon, and is the first feature from Reverence Gospel Media, a new production company developing and producing faith-based films for commercial audiences.

'I'm in Love with a Church Girl' was penned by RGM's founder, Galley Molina, based on his life story. In the film, Ja Rule plays Miles Montego, a wealthy former drug dealer who has gone straight. Attempting to stay away from a life of crime, though still associating with his former partners, Montego falls in love with a Vanessa (played by Bailon), a church girl who forces him to rethink his life and the path he's chosen.

"This film is simply about the Power of God in a man's life," said Molina. "The unique part of this story aside from being based and inspired on my real life experiences is that I wrote it while I was incarcerated in a Federal Prison on Drug Trafficking charges...We're tremendously excited to have Ja Rule & Adrienne Bailon on board for 'Church Girl' – two extremely gifted performers who will bring the story to life."

Rule has appeared in several other films in the past, including 'The Fast and the Furious,' 'Scary Movie 3' and 'Shall We Dance.'

'I'm in Love with a Church Girl' begins shooting on May 10, in San Jose, Calif.
