Gucci Mane Resurrects 2Pac on the G-Funk Track ‘On Me’
Ever since Gucci Mane was released from prison last month, he’s been making good use of his time by delivering some quality music. A day after releasing his “First Day Out Tha Feds” video, Guwop releases a new song called “On Me” featuring the late Tupac Shakur.
The G-Funk-inspired track samples the whining synth from MC Breed’s classic 1991 track “Ain’t No Future In Yo Frontin” and boasts a recycled verse from 2Pac’s “F--- Em All,” which originally appeared on his posthumous 2002 album, Better Dayz.
On the song, the "Lemonade" rhymer brags about his wealth and mental toughness.
"I'm major tourin' shows everyday, I gets no sleep / My money lanky, taller than a man 6 foot 3 / My left pinky nine carrot diamond cut so neat / And if I told you what it cost, you would say "golly," he spits.
Meanwhile, 2Pac delivers a fiery verse rapping, "Now mama raised me as a thug n---- / I'm a millionaire started as a drug dealer / I went from rocks to 'zines, writing raps and movies / I went from trustin' these tricks now they all want to sue me / So f--- em' all."
Overall, it's cool to hear two rap legends spitting bars on a track. There's no word if this song will appear on Gucci Mane's upcoming album, Everybody Looking, which arrives at digital retailers on July 22.
