Dr. Dre has lost the name game.

For years, the legendary producer/mogul has been locked in a legal battle with Dr. Drai (Draion M. Burch), a Pennsylvania-based OB-GYN. In 2015, the gynecologist filed to trademark his name and “Doctor Drai OBGYN & Media Personality," TMZ reports. Well, the good doctor, D-R-E that is, wasn't feeling it.

Dr. Dre tried to stop the application, saying that it would cause confusion since their names sound alike. That seems a little far fetched but Dre was serious— and they've been locked in legal battle for years now. No more, however.

A trademark office dismissed the case, saying that although the names sound alike, there's not enough evidence that people would be confused. Seriously—we know Dre has diversified his interests outside of rap music, but not that much.

In other news that turned out more positively for Dre, he recently bought a new home in Calabasas, California for $4.9 million. This latest purchase adds to the music mogul's real estate collection. Dre, 53, owns several of properties in Los Angels including an enormous compound in Brentwood that he purchased from New England Patriots star Tom Brady and model wife Gisele Bundchen for $40 million.
