Donda West Surgeon Convicted in DUI Case

The plastic surgeon controversially known for performing a tummy tuck on Kanye West's mother, Donda, the day before her sudden death was sentenced to a year in jail for a DUI charge on Monday.

Dr. Jan Adams was stopped by San Francisco police last June when he was caught driving his Jaguar in the wrong direction on Interstate 680. A breathalyzer revealed Adams' blood alcohol level was .20 percent, more than twice the legal limit.

The surgeon performed a tummy tuck, breast reduction and liposuction on West in November 2007. The 58-year-old's cause of death was initially described as "a result of complications from a cosmetic surgical procedure," several months later, however, a Los Angeles Coroner ruled "multiple post-operative factors" responsible for West's untimely death.
